Tom Stoppa began his scouting career as a Cub Scout. He later joined the newly formed Troop 33 at St. Mary's church where he eventually earned his Eagle. He served the OA in such roles as Chapter Chief, Lodge Chief, Section Conclave Chairmen, and Section Secretary.
He's been on multiple camp staff's including: Bear Lake Scout Camp, Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation, and Camp Greilick where he acted as director in the mid-1990's.
He's participated in and led many NYLT & Wood Badge courses becoming NLYT Course Director in 1992 and 1999. He was appointed the NYLT Committee Chair in 2000 and served in this role until 2004. In 2010 and 2014 he worked on Wood Badge Staff.
Prior to becoming Lodge Adviser of Agaming Maangogwan, he was Associate Adviser of Mischigonong for over 10 years and Lodge Adviser for six years.
He is a high school history and advanced placement teacher in Alpena serving as the Department Chair. He is the Alpena County Adviser for NEMYAC -- North East Michigan Youth Advisory Council.
In his spare time he swims, travels, and reads.
